"990 Faces" Hans-Jürgen Raabe Exhibition

(Past Exhibition)

Istanbul Photography Museum, in collaboration with Goethe-Institut Istanbul, is proud to present its new exhibition "990 Faces" by Hans-Jürgen Raabe.

Hans-Jürgen Raabe started his photography project, "990 Faces", in 2010 and has been working on it in various continents and countries ever since. The artist is creating an utmost personal, encyclopedic and comprehensive human portraiture series, each consisting of 30 photographs. The placement of each photograph is determined solely by the date it was taken in.

Hans-Jürgen Raabe, with "990 Faces – Work In Progress", incorporates the corporeality and uniqueness of the human kind into the centre of his work. Whether he photographs pedestrians on New York's 5th Avenue, visitors at dOCUMENTA in Kassel or travelers on the ferries of the Bosphorus, whoever they are Hans-Jürgen Raabe always strives to highlight each subject's personal existence with a special moment.

With 10 stills and 30 portraits from each location, the artist aims to complete 33 series resulting with "990 Faces". This exhibition in Istanbul brings together all the portraits and stills that have been shot to this date. Enjoy the show!
